Kitchen kits for your own Claude: barbecue, sous vide, wine and recipes

· 4 min read · By Ownkit

Cooks who care keep notes: pit temperatures, bath times, which bottle to open, how grandma's stew really goes. Saltmark makes kits that keep those notes for you. You tell Claude what you cooked; the dashboard keeps the record.

How the kitchen kits work

Each kit runs in your own Claude, in a folder on your computer. A setup script asks a few short questions, then builds a dashboard that opens in your browser without internet, plus the data files behind it. Fictional sample data comes with every kit, so you can see it filled in before you start.

Barbecue: BBQ Pit Book

BBQ Pit Book keeps your recipes, rubs and sauces with your own pit temperatures. Every cook goes into a log with times, weather, wood, notes and a score from 1 to 5. From your own logged durations it works out when to light the pit for the next cook, working back from when you want to eat. The dashboard shows °C and °F. €8.99, one time.

It also shows safe minimum internal temperatures, copied from the USDA FSIS chart with the source on screen. That chart lists, for example, 145 °F (62.8 °C) with at least 3 minutes of rest for beef, pork, veal and lamb steaks, chops and roasts, and 165 °F (73.9 °C) for all poultry.

Sous vide: Sous Vide Book

Sous Vide Book keeps your recipes with your own bath temperature, time and finish. Tell it when dinner is, and it works back to when the bath goes on, when the food goes in and when you sear. A cook log keeps scores and notes per recipe. €8.99, one time.

It checks your settings against the USDA FSIS chart and the FDA Food Code, with links. It does not replace food safety guidance.

Wine: Wine Cellar

Wine Cellar gives you a rack view that shows which bottle sits in which place. It lists what to drink now, by drinking windows you set yourself. You see bottles per colour and region, what you paid in total, and your own tasting notes and scores for every bottle you opened. €8.99, one time.

Recipes: Family Recipe Book

Family Recipe Book keeps every family recipe in one book, with who it comes from. It scales servings with fractions and rounds to amounts you can measure. You can print recipe cards in A5, A4 or 5 x 7 inch, and find recipes in an index by course, occasion and cook. €4.99, one time.

Everyday cooking: My Kitchen and Easy Meals Inspirator

My Kitchen keeps pantry, fridge and freezer stock with quantities. It builds a use-first list from the dates on your packs, shows what is running low by your own minimums and links your equipment to your recipes. €4.99, one time.

Easy Meals Inspirator looks at what you have and shows tonight's matches from your own recipes, best first, with what is missing per recipe. You can filter by time and mood. When Claude suggests a new idea, it is always labelled as new. €4.99, one time.

Planning and shopping

Two kits from other makers fit next to these. Meal Planner plans the week's dinners and gives you one shopping list. Grocery Price Tracker compares what you pay per kg, litre or piece, by store. Both €4.99, one time.

A cook log, not food safety advice

Your pit temperatures, bath times and target temperatures are your own settings. Where a kit shows safe minimum temperatures, it names its source so you can check it. Use a food thermometer, and follow the guidance that applies where you live.

What you need

The Claude desktop app with a paid plan, since Claude Code is not part of the Free plan (Claude plans), a web browser and a free Ownkit account. Some kits can use Node.js, which is free and optional. See how to install a kit, or plan the rest of family life with the family kits.
